Rashid Gargash

Rashid Gargash is the youngest graduate of Georgetown University’s Executive Master’s in Leadership. He founded RashTions as a research project to address food insecurity in the Middle East. Noticing the unsustainable nature of growing rice and wheat, which require vast amounts of water (18 million liters daily per 1,600 tons annually), Rashid sought a solution using principles from Y Combinator and Stanford product design. At Georgetown, he combined product iteration principles with insights from Y Combinator’s Michael Seibel to create his own startup model. Traveling across the UAE, Rashid studied desalination, groundwater issues, and surveyed local resources, discovering that dates and milk were the most abundant. He combined these with other research based ingredients at UAEU to create RashTions, through an inhouse laboratory. Although the initial goal of replacing wheat was financially challenging, Rashid pivoted. He launched RashTions as a protein bar in Tysons Corner Mall, where it sold out in three days without any advertising.
